Review: The Blancmange (Elemental Superpowers, #2)

Creating a story takes a lot effort, especially if it's enticing, has interesting characters, beautiful scenery, and an enjoyable, well written plot. But a story which incorporates all of these qualities. while intricately entwining several layers which blend together and hold your attention and are understandable is even more of an accomplishment. However, in 'Blancmange' A.J. Llewellyn and Serena Yates have managed to do so quite well.
Finn and Ty are both amazing characters with personality, looks, passion, wit, and charm. I especially loved how both men are unassuming and downplay their abilities. Although their hook up is inevitable, their courtship is anything but predictable. How many couples can boast of a relationship fraught with things like sea monsters, murder attempts, superpowers, and a father who thinks he's a shark?
Besides a passionate love story, it's also a murder mystery, a criminal investigation, a fantasy, a geography lesson and much more. Everything about the book, whether it be cupcakes or mermen, assaults all five of your senses in one way or another and increases your hunger for more. 'The Blancmange' is the second book in 'The Elemental Superpowers' series and can be read and enjoyed alone, however, reading 'The Cake' first will enable you to more fully enjoy it's epicurean escapades. For a special treat, don't pass this one up. Thanks AJ and Serena for a terrific reading experience.
